Coin in condition about as issued, with some scattered spots and flecks. Housed in original number "78" framed map-style holder measuring approximately 19-1/2 x 13-1/2 inches. The map of York County, printed in red and black, contains many emblems and motifs of local significance including allusions to the county's colonial, maritime, and industrial heritage, together with York County's more recent status as a vacation destination. 100 of these numbered map-style coin holders were originally issued for distribution to the area's leading citizens; another 100 half dollars were placed in map-style holders but not numbered. Glass probably replaced. A whitel labe with blue printing on verso reads: "THIS PICTURE / FRAMED BY / THE STAR PRINT Inc. / KENNEBUNK, MAINE / Printers Publishers." These York County framed holders are very rare and always command strong prices when offered at auction.
