From an absolutely rare original Proof delivery of just 731 pieces comes this conditionally elusive Superb Gem specimen, and what a marvelous coin it is to behold. Both sides are possessed of excellent field-to-device contrast, as the fields are simply deeply pooled mirrors, while the devices have been endowed with an enviable sheen of frosty mint luster. The recipient of a crisp strike, the designs are for all purposes, complete. Dominated by a pronounced sunset-red color over both sides. Both the obverse and reverse are essentially silent on the subject of irksome hairlines, with nary an important and/or grade-limiting handling mark in plain sight, and in light of the following quote by Wayne Miller in his writing The Morgan and Peace Dollar Textbook, where he states that "hairlines and other surface impairments are quite prevalent in this issue...with...marginal Gems not uncommon," specialists in the series will rejoice to observe the condition of the present piece.
