Both sides of this coin possess, deep, rich, glossy-brown patina. Due to the presence of an exceptionally heavy border along the left peripheries--a diagnostic for the variety--the devices toward those areas of the coin are uncommonly sharp for the assigned grade. The rim areas at the right side of the coin, however, are a bit soft with some merging to the peripheral devices in those areas. As a whole, nonetheless, this coin retains suitably bold detail for a Liberty Cap Cent that saw this extensive circulation. A dig at the upper-left obverse border is noted, as is a smaller indentation in the reverse field before the first A in AMERICA.
