Lot #5211. Colonial Notes. VA-85. Virginia (James River Bank). September 1, 1775. 8 Pounds. PCGS Very Fine 35.

Choice 1775 James River Bank 8 Pounds

Description: No.20/1914. Signed by Johnson, Norvell, and Robert Carter Nicholas. A very strong grade example from the second series of James River Bank notes. Though not as rare as the 1773 notes, these are very hard to find in choice condition. This is a superior example from the illustrious Boyd collection. The James River Bank forms from this collection should be classified as legendary, as nearly all the types were represented. Bright and broad, with abundant margins including a boardwalk top margin. All the pen accomplishment is strong.

From Stack’s John J. Ford, Jr. Collection Part XVII, March 21, 2007, Lot 4406.
