Lot #7106. 1786 Connecticut Copper. Miller 5.3-N, W-2555. Rarity-5. Hercules Head. VG-10.

Description: 143.6 grains. Dark brown and smoothly worn, this Hercules Head is essentially choice for the type, given its relative absence of the disfiguring planchet flaws that often riddle the surfaces on this variety. Struck from the usual buckled state of the reverse, essentially devastating the central reverse. An important and distinctive major Red Book type represented by only 3 die combinations in the Miller series, 2 of which are extremely rare.

PCGS# 334.

From Collection SLT. Purchased privately from Harry Rescigno, November 1985; earlier ex David Sonderman.
