| Description: |
142.7 grains, Dark steely brown and exhibiting a few rust-colored pits on both sides, the overall surface showing a matte-like texture that has softened what must have been very sharply defined design motifs. In fact, the sharpness and completeness of the laurel leaves suggest that this coin had VF or better meat before the surface texture. The 5.4-N has held its rarity over the years, bringing significant premiums in just about any grade, with no specimens having been seen at auction in recent years, to our knowledge.
