The mintmark on this coin is large in proportion to the reverse lettering, being of comparable size to the letters of QUAR. DOLLAR. All design features are distinct, though the considerable wear is typical of the Fine grade level. All letters of LIBERTY on the shield are visible, though a couple are faint. The overall texture exhibits a pleasant, steel-gray hue with charcoal accents in the recesses. The surfaces are remarkably smooth for a coin that spent this much tome in the channels of commerce. NGC has certified only 46 examples of this rare variety thus far.
