Obv: three-quarter length bust of Vernon partly left, baton in left hand, surrounded by inscription THE BRITISH GLORY REVIV.D BY ADMIRAL VERNON. Rev: six ships at harbor entry, single galleon in harbor, legend HE TOOK PORTO BELLO WITH SIX SHIPS ONLY, additional inscription BY COURAGE AND CONDUCT in exergue. Dominant pewter gray patina with hints of faded antique gold, which suggests a more brassy composition for the planchet. The definition is bold save for moderate rub to the high points, and the surfaces are smooth apart from some minor pitting and, on the reverse, a few tiny swirls of old, inactive verdigris. Presents very well.
