Obv: PEDLEY-RYAN & CO. / DENVER.Rev: ONE OUNCE / SILVER / 90%. According to Hibber-Kappen (p.162): "Fewer than 85 pieces were struck, all on Jan. 6, 1933." Originally struck (HK-23) as: ONE OUNCE / SILVER / 90% FINE." This was in error, and was supposed to specify: "99% FINE." The word "FINE" was chiseled off, and this type (HK-24) was produced immediately thereafter, for an audience of silver boosters who were present. This piece shows significant doubling on the reverse characters, especially on "S" in SILVER, and "90%". A pleasing Uncirculated example, with blended gray-tan and champagne toning; shallow hairlines and pin scratches are found on both sides, but do not significantly detract from the overall eye appeal of this scarce example.
