An appealing example with satiny luster and deep, dusky rose and electric-blue toning on the obverse. The reverse displays lighter champagne coloration. Blemish-free and boldly struck. The Arkansas Centennial was celebrated in 1936, but in this era of commemorative exploitation those behind the project couldn't wait, began issuing coins in 1935, as here, and kept up their activities until 1939. While this was scandalous in its time, today numismatists enjoy collecting them across the board, and some of the later issues such as 1938 and 1939 in the Arkansas series, with incredibly low mintages, are much more desired now than they were at the time of issue.
