2.5 grams. An important off-metal planchet error, this being the rarest variant known on a Franklin half dollar. It is also among the most visually stimulating due to the wide size discrepancy between the dime planchet and the intended half dollar. This broad size difference rarely allows for the full date on the struck coin. In fact, there are only three to four off-metal Franklin half dollars on silver dime planchets known with dates. These coins are the most desirable among such errors and command high premiums. Likewise, the mintmark also shows clearly on the reverse, in short, the best of both worlds where identification of such an error is concerned. Superb eye appeal. Bright, fresh silver, fully brilliant with outstanding luster. Very rare, and an important example suitable for the finest error collection.
