Lot #12012. 1894 Morgan Silver Dollar. Proof-68 (NGC).

Description: This incredible Superb Gem Proof shows an arc of blue-green, reddish-gold, and steel-gray toning that surrounds much of the obverse and reverse, while the centers are lilac-silver. A strong loupe finds little to fault this extraordinary coin, as the surfaces nudge ever closer to perfection with each scrutiny by a seasoned numismatist. This incredible 1898 Proof Morgan dollar exemplifies remarkable quality. Not only are the surfaces technically impressive, but the toning adds considerably to the eye appeal and desirability. As a date, the 1894 Morgan dollar is highly sought-after as the mintage was quite low for business strikes at 110,000 pieces. Proof issues halted after a scant 972 were struck. In terms of quality, the present coin is one of 11 so graded by NGC with none finer in the Proof designation.

PCGS# 7329.
