Incredible About Uncirculated Ming Dynasty One Kuan

Description: (S/M#T36-20) An issue which has received tremendous attention as it truly is of a special breed. These notes were mostly discovered during the Boxer rising in the early 20th century with a later trove being found in a time capsule around the 1930's during the demolition of a Temple around the outskirts of Beijing. This note carries with it a provenance of being one of the pieces from the time capsule and was supposedly hand selected from the initial find by a Norwegian Missionary with an obvious eye for quality. The note was then purchased by a London dealer upon the original owners death. The new owner was said to have had taken the note to the British Museum for an inspection regarding authentication which was verified.

The piece offered in here along with the previous lot are the two finest we can recall handling and are true numismatic treasures. The note is seen with a bold and well defined impression of the very large format design and shows with sensational vermillion overprinting in red inks. The back is also met with nice inks of the smaller impression at lower center and again with deep red color of the vermillion stamping. PMG mentions tears and foreign substance which are actually quite small nuances in the overall picture of quality for the item. Surely worthy of the finest of collection.
