CHINA--PROVINCIAL BANKS. Hupeh Government Mint. 7 Mace 2 Candareens, Yr. 25 (1899). P-S2135r.
Striking Large Format Hupeh Government Mint Seven Mace Two Candareens
Description:
(S/M#H175-20) Remainder. An opportunity to secure one of the most well recognized and beautiful designs of all Chinese paper money. This large format Hupeh Government Mint note is incredibly alluring with prominent facing dragons at left and right with pearl of wisdom between. Dragons seen holding contemporary silver dollars with large orange guilloche at lower center. A bright verso design is seen with printing in orange at the borders and black text at center. Without serial number at upper center which is commonplace on all we have handled for the design. In our opinion this piece is slightly more appealing than the note we handled in our April sale as it shows with fully problem free paper and even wear. The aforemention piece from our April sale was sold as lot 24491 as PMG Choice Very Fine 35. Net Repaired and brought $35,850.00. With this piece being without distractions and having full color, we feel the bidding will be spirited.
PMG Very Fine 30
Estimate:
$25,000 - $35,000
