Large Size. Fr. 311. 1880 $20 Silver Certificates. PMG Very Fine 30 EPQ.
Vivid and Original "Decatur" Certificate of Deposit
Description:
An absolutely stunning Very Fine example of this prominent 1880 Silver Certificate design. Surely one of the more pleasing we have handled in recent memory with appeal that rivals Extremely Fine material. The note is a fully original item being free from restoration or repairs and is rare as such. A quick look at the PMG population report shows this single item as the only note to have attained an "EPQ," designation with all catalog numbers for both the 1878 and 1880 $20 Silver Certificate designs considered. Not so much as a single pinhole is observed with only light even circulation making up the technical grade. Vividly overprinted and seen with a particularly sharp impression of the design. The important back is quite stunning with the well known large lettering of "SILVER," prominently spanning the note. Wonderful centering and margins further notch this note above others of similar quality. A wonderful opportunity for collectors that favor originality and appeal over numerical grades.
