Lot #2036. 1798 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. Small Eagle. B-2, BB-81. Rarity-3. BB Die State II. 15 Stars on Obverse. VF-35 (PCGS). CAC.

Description: Quite pleasing for the grade with gunmetal-gray fields that show traces of luster in the protected areas and lighter silver-gray on the worn portions of the design. Solid rims and surfaces, with no bumps, adjustment marks or circulation issues that so often plague these early dollars. Bold hair definition on Liberty but just a few too many breast feathers are worn smooth on the eagle's chest to earn the coveted grade above, but close indeed to that level. A scarce type coin and major variety which is seldom found this nice.

PCGS# 6868.
