1836 Capped Bust, Lettered Edge Half Dollar One of Many iAuction Highlights

Stack’s Bowers Galleries iAuctions continue to offer desirable United States coins for Internet bidding every week, while including world coins the first week of each month and U.S. and world paper money in the final week of the month. This week we feature a lovely and desirable 1836 Capped Bust, Lettered Edge half dollar. The variety is Overton-114 and the coin is graded MS-64 by NGC..

The Capped Bust, Lettered Edge half dollars were designed by John Reich and produced from 1807 through 1836. During this time they were the largest silver coins produced at the United States Mint, excepting only the 1836 Gobrecht dollars. For the most part large quantities of these half dollars were struck, with many different varieties and multiple edge lettering formats. Collecting these attractive half dollars by Overton number is a very popular pursuit and we are pleased to offer Bust dollar aficionados this lovely Choice 1836 half dollar as part of this week’s iAuction.

If you haven’t tried our iAuctions, we encourage you to view the offered lots at stacksbowers.com and place some bids. If you are a previous bidder in our Internet auctions, welcome back. Either way we wish you the best of luck.
