Lot 51089 in our August Hong Kong Auction is an outstanding 10,000 Yuan. This note is exceptionally difficult to find in issued form, and it is challenging to describe the beauty of the offered note with words. But, we will do our best.
This piece features the “Camel Caravan” design, which also provides the note’s nickname. Originally, the note was issued for Xinjiang Province, and was not mass produced. Most of the time this design is found either on replicas, specimens, or forgeries. This example shows excellent detail, and appears to be well preserved. PCGSBG mentions Minor Restoration, and Eraser Cleaning in the comments section, but such comments on a note of this caliber are not of concern and they definitely do not distract from the overall eye appeal. We anticipate spirited bidding on this highly sought-after piece.
This lot will be sold in Session B of our Hong Kong Sale on Monday, August 14, 2017, 1 PM Hong Kong Time, or Sunday August 13th 10 PM Pacific Time.
