2025 began with a bang, as two major coin shows proved that this cherished hobby and industry is alive and thriving. Contrary to the belief that coin shows might be fading into obscurity, the start of this year demonstrated quite the opposite.
The first was the Florida United Numismatists (FUN) show, which was spectacular. The energy never waned from the initial setup to the final moments of packing up. Collectors and dealers experienced a flurry of activity on both the buying and selling fronts. The enthusiasm and buzz surrounding upcoming auctions added another layer of excitement. This year’s FUN Show truly lived up to its name, offering an engaging and dynamic experience for all who attended.
Hot on the heels of FUN the New York International Numismatic Convention, held at the lovely InterContinental Barclay Hotel, kept the momentum going strong. The venue was wall-to-wall with attendees, reflecting unusually high interest. Our NYINC Auction drew significant crowds in-house and online, with spirited bidding from collectors around the world.
Such robust activity at these back-to-back shows is an encouraging sign for the numismatic community. These events highlight the enduring allure of coins and the attraction of being together in a vibrant community that shares a deep appreciation for the history, artistry, and stories behind these tangible pieces of the past.
As 2025 unfolds, it’s clear that the coin-collecting world is poised for another exciting and dynamic year. If the energy and success of these early shows are any indication, there’s much to look forward to in the months ahead.
