Included in our January 2019 sale in conjunction with
the New York International Numismatic Convention, we will be offering additional
pieces from the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Paper Money. A few República
lots and some replacement notes will be offered, but the highlights will be the
Composite Essays, and various Proofs that are still to cross the block.
One lot that will surely garner plenty of attention
contains Composite Essays for Pick 364, 365, and 366, accompanied by internal
memos, and various proofs at different stages of production. Within the lot, we
separated the miscellaneous pieces according to the catalog number they are attributed
to. There is one face, and two back proofs for Pick 364, the 10 Pesos, with
Internal Memos from the American Bank Note Company. There are two faces and one
back represented in the Pick 365 assortment for the 50 Pesos design. The 100
Pesos design, Pick 366, features one Composite Essay on thick cardboard with
various signatures surrounding it signing off on the design. Included with this
piece are three vignettes of Santander, along with a photo of him.
This group will be offered as one lot with a very
modest estimate of $1,000-$2,000 as we prefer not to speculate on the value of
these pieces; the market will determine that.
There is still time to consign to our NYINC sale, to
be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City. If you’re interested in
