Popular Issued 1953 10 Yuan Offered in April Hong Kong Sale

Our Spring Hong Kong currency sale is currently posted to StacksBowers.com for viewing and bidding, and we are excited to offer many rarities in this sale. Be sure to carefully browse the Chinese Private Issue section, as there are an impressive number of these this sale. From the People’s Republic of China section, we are pleased to offer lot 30231, a P-870 1953 10 Yuan graded Very Fine 25 by PMG. Block 435. Watermark of arms.

This type was introduced in December 1957, and was withdrawn from circulation on April 15, 1964. This denomination was printed in the U.S.S.R. and is a key note for collectors of P.R.C. currency. Among the highlights of our People’s Republic section, it is sure to attract spirited bidding from collectors. The central vignette is of a factory worker pointing into the distance beside a farmer holding wheat. The reverse displays the national emblem of the P.R.C. at center, with a colorful design below. PMG comments “Splits”.
