Stack’s Rare Coins Sells $4,476 Worth of Coins and Currency…in 1937

Did you know that on September 17, 1937, Stack’s Rare Coins held a public auction with 1,314 lots that realized an amazing $4,476? You might say that those numbers aren’t impressive, but considering it was a few years removed from the Great Depression, it was a great sale. The highest priced item in the sale was an 1804 Wide Date Extremely Fine gold eagle, which sold for $65.
