Lot #2444. 1926-S Buffalo Nickel. MS-65 (NGC).

Prized Gem Mint State-65 1926-S Key Date Buffalo Nickel

NGC Census: 8; 3 finer for this Date

Description: The mintage for the year came to a mere 970,000 pieces, most of which circulated for many years. Few Mint State coins were saved, and from that group certainly Gems are the hardest to find. As noted in their Census NGC has certified 8 coins as MS-65 of this date and mint, with just 3 finer a point above. Notice the pastel lemon-gold hues on both sides with flashes of deeper color in the recesses of the design. Such toning enhances the natural beauty of this popular and historic coin. Furthermore, the strike is sharp too, with uncommon boldness on the Chief as well as the bison. Each of the peripheral letters are crisp as well, with the date and all important mintmark clear to the unaided eye. An exceptional opportunity for one specialist to finally obtain this show stopping date in Gem condition.

NGC Census: 8; 3 finer (MS-66 finest).
