With a generous mintage of 11 million pieces, the 1918-S is one of the more readily obtainable early date Standing Liberty Quarters in an absolute sense. The issue is a major strike rarity, however, with J. H. Cline (Standing Liberty Quarters, Fourth Edition) estimating that fewer than 3% of the coins produced emerging from the dies with Full Head definition.

The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the January 2011 Tampa Bay Auction, where it realized $29,900.
