This week I would like to share a story of a recent encounter I had working here at Stack’s Bowers Galleries. Earlier this week I received a phone call from hundreds of miles away. This prospective consignor had a coin for which he had receive an offer on that seemed quite low to him. I asked what coin he had and how much he was offered. It turns out he has a very scarce and desirable territorial gold piece, and that coin is worth many multiples of the local offer he received. This is why he reached out to us for full transparency and guidance. After a lengthy phone conversation, he is sending the coin to us for placement in our 2024 Spring Showcase auction. The shipment is fully insured with us and now this client gets to watch our loyal bidders provide the full market value for his coin. We are able to give the client the opportunity to take advantage of the upside this Mormon half eagle has to offer.
