Our December Hong Kong CCO Auction of World Paper Money will soon be available online at StacksBowers.com. We are excited to offer a large assortment of People’s Republic notes in this sale, with over 100 notes in this section alone. Included are quite a few notes from the popular 1949 series, along with a few from the 1948 series.
A key set of notes to keep an eye on is the four specimens from the 1999 (ND 2001) series, which consists of P-898s 10 Yuan; P-899s 20 Yuan; P-900s 50 Yuan; and P-901s 100 Yuan. PMG grades range from Choice About Uncirculated 58 EPQ to Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
Another area to watch is the China Empire section, where we are offering a 2 Kuan note from the Yuan dynasty (1264-1341) P-Unlisted in a PMG Fine 12 Net (Restoration) grade. This note predates the famous Ming Dynasty notes by nearly 100 years. The Yuan Dynasty lasted from 1271 to 1368 (with Kublai Khan being the emperor in power during this note’s circulation period from 1260-1294).
Be sure to check out offerings from other areas such as French Indo-China, Hong Kong, Mongolia, and the China-Republic section. Good luck, and happy bidding!
