Magnificent BWC National Bank of Egypt 100 Pounds Design

As we prepare for the holidays, we are also looking forward to our next sale — the first of 2016. In our January 9, 2016, NYINC sale we will present a spectacular 100 Pound Egyptian note. This note is just one of the many stunning Egyptian notes from the National Bank of Egypt. However, the color and ornate design of this note make it worth singling out.

This large format design produced by Bradbury Wilkinson and Company most certainly ranks among the most beautiful banknote designs. A purple primary design incorporates intricate lathe styling and a central vignette of a Citadel and mosque of Mohammed Ali at center. There is multicolored guilloche at left and right and spanning the upper center. Additionally, there is yellow, red and green under-printed color. The back design is also in purple with "100" counters at left and right and floral styling at center with framed under-printed multicolored design. We have a hard time justifying the Very Fine grade by PMG as the circulation is incredibly faint. This note will be a cornerstone in even the most advanced collection. It carries a conservative estimate of $10,000 – $15,000.

Be sure to check out this note, lot 50092 in the live auction session of our upcoming NYINC Sale at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City on January 9 at 9 AM EST.
