Stack’s Bowers Galleries announces an exceptional offering of Costa Rica notes that will be sold at our January 2024 Official Auction of the New York International Numismatic Convention. This group contains a plethora of notes that are the sole known examples, with an astounding number of other rarities as well. One standout is a stunning 1906 20 Colones, Pick s179a in a VF-20 holder. This issued example will surely excite even the most advanced collectors of Latin American material. A 1918 Banco Internacional 100 Colones is also a true rarity, with a bright red overprint on what was the Costa Rica Pick 135 design. This treasure has incredible color and detail present throughout. Also astonishing is a Waterlow and Sons Banco Commercial 100 Colones note with a 1914 date.
