With the Spring catalog complete and pre-bidding underway, we are now looking to take in consignments for our June sale. I personally have a very interesting story to tell about a consignment I took in earlier this week. A client came in with a Proof set that he had inherited from his stepfather. Only it was not just any Proof set! My inner coin nerd leapt with excitement at the sight of a complete six-coin Proof set dated 1902 that included the cent, nickel, dime, quarter, half dollar and dollar, all housed in Old Green Label PCGS holders. Adding to the excitement, they are consecutive serial numbers with matching toning. This set is truly original and has not been broken up since they came together decades ago. All the coins are graded conservatively at either Proof-66 or Proof-67. This is the sort of thing that keeps the passion for numismatics strong here at Stack’s Bowers Galleries.
