Coin Resource Center Has Listing on West Point Mint Facility

The Stack’s Bowers’ Galleries Coin Resource Center covers topics beyond the collectible objects themselves. In previous blogs, we’ve reviewed CRC entries on U.S. Mint branches; this week, we’ll review the entry on the newest facility, the West Point Mint. Our CRC entry chronicles the facility’s evolution from a bullion depository to an auxiliary coin producing facility (operating in the background to meet the nation’s coinage), to a full Mint, producing coinage, mainly bullion and commemorative issues, bearing the “W” mintmark.

The West Point Mint’s history is worth exploring for anyone interested in the history of modern U.S. bullion and commemorative coins. Keen followers of our auctions will notice West Point coins crossing the block, and our CRC entry can offer useful context for these items.

The CRC includes entries on all other U.S. Mint facilities, including those in currently operation and those that shuttered long ago.
