This is an amazing Gem example of this Iceland 50 Kronur note, one of only three examples of this Pick number in PMG holders – this Gem and two VF 30 notes. King Christian X of Denmark is depicted at left in a side facing portrait within a gilded gold frame. Christian X ruled Denmark from May 14, 1929, to April 20, 1947, and Iceland up until the Republic of Iceland was founded in June 1944, when Iceland voted to sever all ties with the King of Denmark. The reverse of the note shows a seated Viking woman at center, with a shield and sword in hand. The intricate designs at left and right of the Viking woman look as if they were pulled directly from a Viking Longhouse.
