Spring 2022 Auction to Offer Exceptional 1862 $5 Legal Tender Note

Our Spring 2022 U.S. Currency Auction is shaping up to be quite impressive with a number of high-grade rarities. One such note is this lovely Fr. 61c 1862 $5 Legal Tender Note in PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.

This is a tremendous offering of a popular Civil War era Legal Tender Note. Unquestionably original paper displays a milky white hue. At left is a vignette of Liberty as seen on top of the U.S. Capitol, while at right is a bust of Alexander Hamilton. The underprint design and "5" at center are in lime green ink and contrast very nicely with the bright paper. The ornate back design features geometric inspired lathe work (courtesy of ABNC) in a dark hunter green. This catalog number is incredibly difficult to locate in this level of preservation, so be prepared to bid aggressively to take this beauty home. PMG Pop 2/None Finer.
