The 1795 Flowing Hair Silver Dollar from the A.J. Vanderbilt Collection

By BeFeatured as lot 3137 in the Rarities Night Session of our Spring 2023 Showcase Auction is a lovely 1795 Flowing Hair Dollar hailing from the A.J. Vanderbilt Collection, which we sold in March 2018. This impressive coin is the BB-21 Two Leaves variety and is graded as MS-62 by NGC. Both sides reveal considerable prooflike reflectivity in the fields; in fact, this coin was cataloged as a possible “Presentation Specimen” when offered in Hollinbeck-Kagin’s sale of May 1969.
