Walter Breen identified four different varieties as having been struck in Proof format. Today, there are only two recognized Proof varieties for the year, the Proof-only N-14 and N-12. The N-12 is by far the rarer of the two with just two examples confirmed. Of the two confirmed, the example we sold in the Twin Leaf Collection is the finest.

The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the July 2015 Baltimore Auction, where it realized $24,675.
