The proof 1862 Quarter Eagle is extremely rare in all grades, the original mintage just 35 pieces and the surviving population probably on the order of 10-15 coins.

The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the January 2011 Tampa Bay Rarities Auction, where it sold for $4,887.
