The 1883-CC is one of the three Carson City dollar issues that are plentiful in Mint State. Nearly all pieces are well struck, very attractive, and reasonably priced. Circulation mintage coins usually are seen with deep, frosty luster, and are bright and attractive.
Available to an extent but not often seen. When found the typical circulated example is VF or EF, though AU pieces can be found with some diligence.
This plentiful issue can be had in MS-65 with no great difficulty. Bag quantities were released intermittently in the 1950s, but it wasn’t until the GSA sale of Carson City dollars in the early 1970s that this date became readily available. Some 62% of the date’s total mintage was released at that time!
None produced.
The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the August 2012 Philadelphia ANA Auction, where it realized $82,250.
