The 1905 Proof Liberty Head Quarter Eagle comes from a Proof mintage for the date of 144 pieces, with somewhat more than 100 examples probably still extant. This is, of course, great news for today's collecting community, as all who desire a Proof Liberty quarter eagle from the early 20th century will find them to be slightly more available than their counterparts from the mid to late 19th century.

The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the August 2023 Global Showcase Auction, where it sold for $3,840.
