With a mintage of 11,346,000 pieces, the 1943-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar is the scarcest half dollar of the year, its production falling almost 42 million coins short of the quantity struck in Philadelphia. The overall production quality was high for this issue, although copious bag marks and other blemishes mean that most coins are in certified grades of MS-66 or lower.
