The Peace of Paris Period

In 1763, the French and the British signed a peace treaty that ended the 7 Years War that was being fought for control over North America. As you can tell from the insignificant number of Betts Medals produced between 1763 and 1775, there were few events that garnered enough attention and excitement to issue new medals. Many of these medals lack a cohesive element that defines the series. Among the commemorations are British victories, society medals like the Charles Town Social Club, medals presented to Native people, and medals that celebrated popular figures. One prominent figure that we see on many of these medals is William Pitt. In fact, of the 30 medals representing this period, 11 of them feature William Pitt.

The Peace of Paris Period Betts Medals include Betts-507 to Betts-537.
