Congratulations to Peter Treglia Recipient of the Sol Kaplan Award

The Sol Kaplan Award, presented by the Professional Numismatists Guild, recognizes outstanding contributions to combating crimes against the numismatic community. In 2026, the award was jointly presented to four individuals and one nonprofit organization for their roles in investigating and recovering rare banknotes valued at over $1 million. These notes had been reported lost or stolen from a registered mail shipment in August 2025.

The 2026 recipients are:

• Peter Treglia (Costa Mesa, California)
• Robert Hart (Jacksonville, Florida)
• Dave Orshowitz (Roswell, Georgia)
• Inspector Chris Nastawa (Jacksonville, Florida branch of the USPS Office of the Inspector General)

The award was also presented to the Numismatic Crime Information Center, founded by former Texas Police Chief Doug Davis, for its key role in coordinating and facilitating information-sharing throughout the investigation.
