The Candace D. Kagin Collection of Hobo Nickels

Stack’s Bowers Galleries is proud to offer one of the largest and finest collections of Hobo Nickels ever assembled. The Candace D. Kagin Collection will be showcased in a series of auction events, beginning with the Summer 2025 Global Showcase Auction (August 25 – 30 & September 2 – 5, 2025) and continuing into the following year.

The collection comprises well over 500 coins with 90 named carvers. Highlights include over 100 examples carved by George Washington “Bo” Hughes and half a dozen carved by Bertram “Bert” Wiegand. Built by a discerning eye, this collection contains pieces of superb workmanship that are true works of art. In addition to the Hobo Nickels, our sales will also feature a spectacular group of important ancillary material including Bo’s original tools.
