The Young-Dakota Collection is an attention-grabbing group of late 19th century to mid-20th century Proof coinage. The collection consists of many pristine high-grade gems across a few different U.S. coin series. The real draw in my opinion is the offering of Barber quarters that includes many ultra-gem cameo and deep cameo examples. One particular coin really stuck out to me – the 1912 Barber quarter graded Proof-68 with well-deserved CAC approval. Just one coin is graded finer by PCGS.
Beyond the condition, this stunner is one of my favorites from the collection because of its incredible, eye-appealing color. Its surfaces feature swaths of sandy-silver patina that are otherwise awash in vivid olive-orange, crimson-red and cobalt blue iridescence. This quarter is strongly reflective and fully struck with a virtually pristine appearance that enhances the desirability. It is certainly one of the most carefully preserved and visually stunning survivors from a mintage of 700 Proof quarters bearing the 1912 date, and it is sure to please discerning numismatists. It is a breathtaking beauty that is sure to see spirited bidding at auction, along with the other offerings from The Young-Dakota Collection.
