Strong Results Achieved in Stack’s Bowers Galleries’ Fall 2025 Maastricht Auction

Author: Stack's Bowers Galleries / October 13, 2025

Stack’s Bowers Galleries’ Fall 2025 Maastricht Showcase Auction attracted active bidding and strong results as $1,466,868 in world paper money crossed the auction block. The catalog presented more than 450 lots from around the world, including rarities not offered for many years. The sale was anchored by several key collections, including selections from the Alfred Kugel Collection, the Jerry and Diane Fishman Collection, and the Meadows Collection. Especially strong prices were achieved for seldom-seen notes from the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and for rare French Colonial material from across the Francophone world.

“Our Maastricht Auction results continue to excite both consignors and bidders,” said Aris Maragoudakis, Director of World Currency Auctions at Stack’s Bowers Galleries. “We routinely see record prices in our world paper money sales” he continued, “but our Maastricht events, in particular, have become premier auctions to debut significant numismatic finds.”

Select top results include (prices realized include 20% buyer’s premium):

The Maastricht International Fair (MIF) has become the premier show for world paper money. Reflecting this Maragoudakis noted: “Attaching this auction to what is the largest world paper money show has great advantages. As we gear up for the Spring 2026 Maastricht Sale, various marquee treasures have already been consigned to that auction as well as other 2026 sales. There’s no better time to consign rarities than today.”

According to MIF Events, the recently completed show featured over 225 tables and attracted attendees from all corners of the world. The organization is hopeful that the Spring 2026 gathering could once again break attendance records.
