Author: Stack's Bowers Galleries / August 5, 2025

Stack’s Bowers Galleries is proud to announce that their eagerly anticipated Summer 2025 Global Showcase is available for viewing and pre-sale bidding at StacksBowers.com. Encompassing all areas of United States and World numismatics from ancient times to the modern era, over 12,200 lots will cross the block over the course of 23 live and online only auction sessions August 25-30 and September 2-5. Important medals, tokens, colonial, federal, and pattern coins are offered in the main United States coins catalog, led by the John D. Miner, Richard August, Seven Lions, and Steve M. Tompkins collections.

“Year in, year out the Global Showcase Auction brings together thousands of great coins and banknotes, many of which have been off the market in private collections for many years,” said Brian Kendrella, president of Stack’s Bowers Galleries. “This year’s sale is no exception and presents a very interesting mix of popular and historic numismatic items.”

Session 1 features a fantastic selection of historic medals and tokens, with items from the John D. Miner Collection, as well as selections from other important properties, offering many rarities from well known to obscure. Included is an incredible selection of Presidential and Assay Commission medals from the collection of Nellie Tayloe Ross, director of the United States Mint from 1933-1953, which offers for the first time a gold 1945 F.D.R. Inaugural medal. Named consignments also include a delightful assortment of Hobo nickels, the first selection of 40 pieces from more than 500 assembled by Candace D. Kagin. Rounding out the session are colonial era coins, including a historic offering of Fugio cents from the Richard August Collection, which boasts two unique varieties.
